Hi fellas, I have a Veritas superb with no vaporiser, I’m looking for a vaporiser or is there any alternative, they seem to look a bit Tilley
    Any leads or suggestions
    Thank you

I’m not home at the moment, isolating with COVID-19 , however when I can move again, I’ll check my parts bin.
If I have one, it’s yours.
    Cheers

@Darryl Durdin Your post prompted me to fish out one of my ‘Superbs’ to confirm how ‘Tilley’ the vapouriser is.

A more than superficial resemblance I’ll grant, but with significant differences - mounting thread diameter and thread form; overall length; removable jet nipple on the Veritas.

I suppose what I had in mind when I suggested a Coleman lamp resemblance was in the arrangement for air mixing and burner.

    Couldn’t resist a light-up on reassembly!

If Vertias used threads for which taps/dies are available you could make one I guess. I recall that there are no "compartments" in the tube on the superb, unlike the Tilley.

@presscall ... nice example and it looks like it's working OK. How did it light once you'd reassembled it, was it easy or not?

@ColinG I recall Dave Shouksmith experienced ‘black mantle’ syndrome with a Superb back in the day, declared on Bart Meijer’s ‘Be Back Later’ lamp website, pre-CPL era, now defunct. My findings differed, posting on BBL a test firing of my Superb against a clock where the lantern burned steadily and well until the fuel was used up (several hours).

To my knowledge Dave’s experience with his blacked the type’s reputation - along with the mantles!

Only fettled one Superb and one 350 as well. I find them a great lantern and like Colin says really eager to light (The lanterns and me). They make a nice alternative to the other British makes - no better, no worse.

The threads which screw into the valve are the same as on a Vapalux / Bialaddin vapouriser i.e. 5/16" x 26 t.p.i. (BSB).

The threads which go inside the tubes are the same as on a Tilley vapouriser i.e. 21/64" x 36 t.p.i.

Useful info. As the tilley thread is an oddball one could substitute the tube thread to M 8x0.75 mm fine which has a pitch of .75mm ( equivalent to 33.78 TPI) and make a new tube from bar and the lower part. You can then use any 350cp jet and make a needle or rod and needle holder to suit
