This very interesting as to what is the demand for Kerosene lanterns in US.

Two weeks ago (approximately) Coleman re-released the Coleman 1-mantle Kerosene Lantern.
In about 2 weeks it went out of stock again. Was it a minimal run? because the lantern was selling through Amazon.com too.

Even if it was a small batch it seems they had absolutely no trouble selling them in a blazing fast pace.

I got two. I use one and keep the other new in box as you never know if they'll make them again

I also bought one from amazon.com as Coleman does not sell this product in EU.

Registering for email notification for when it will be available again may apply some kind of pressure to re-produce it.

Here in the US kerosene is running about $8.00 a gallon! I can remember buying it for 10 cents! Gasoline is still cheaper at $5.00 a gallon!

$5 a gallon? Here it is 2.25 Euros a liter !! EU is a terrible thing. They can not even protect the price of a pound of bread, which suddenly has a 40% increase here. We pay for Ukraine, but when they wanted to crush us financially in 2015, they just did it and nobody outside Greece complained or cared. Anyway...

Yes they are re-stocked in amazon but they remain out of stock at coleman.com
Strange... In any case we can't say it doesn't sell well.

I bought yesterday 40L Kerosene in Belgium for 1,57€/L from the tap at the gas station.

Actually in Britain we did, it was on the news frequently and the subject of special TV reports. I believe that more Brits came to Greece on holiday than ever before from 2015.

True. My bad. I meant the governments not the people. And Britain may have been an exception.

It maybe built up demand because its been out of stock for 3 years. Too the 639 has never been sold in retail shops in America only online or Coleman outlet stores which are not in all parts of the country. Only customers for it I imagine are Preppers, because America really does look like the world is ending. lol Too campers, because everyone is camping now as a cheap holiday, reconnection to nature post Covid etc. If you want a new kero lantern in America there are just 3 other choices 3 or 4 times more expensive .

A week ago bought a 20L drum of clear unscented kero and it worked out at $AU3.50/l.

Just as well as my gas heater broke down and was at the repairers for two weeks.

My kerosene heater was working hard as winter has started here.

I just received the Coleman lamp from Amazon. It was pressurized. Do they do this on purpose? Is it good to be pressurized while in storage (and emptied of course) ? Did you @Brian Reynolds received them pressurized too ?

Now they look out of stock everywhere. Both Coleman and Amazon. So people like these products; it can't be that the whole Coleman run was bought by collectors...

It's been out of stock for 3 years availability was hit hard by the Pandemic. Pent up demand. Preppers in America want one, camping is really popular now , they want one. Coleman's other fuel lanterns seem intermittently produced representing a lack of choice if Americans want fuel lanterns.

I'm just glad Coleman is still making it, it's a very useful lantern.

I just checked because I was thinking of buying a 2nd one and Amazon US has them in stock still. It's odd that some are seeing it marked out of stock.

Is there much difference between the current production 639C and the original 639?

Interesting. I purchased one and on the Amazon site a couple of weeks ago and it said there was just one left. It arrived today and yes it did have some moderate pressure in it but no smell of fuel. Puzzled too as the Carbon Monoxide warning is in English and French. However the box itself is English and Spanish. Nice lantern though with the 660 globe. I probably will fire it up but haven't yet.

I bought mine about a week ago. Initially, they came in stock and warned there were only 7 available, so I bought one. Production date of 2/22. Then a few days later the listing had been updated with no stock level warning, which means they have a bunch of them. I have to admit I didn't read anything on the box or on the warning materials, so I don't have a clue what the languages were.

I see them in stock for AUD200...that translates into about USD142 at current FX rates.
I think Coleman.com was doing them for USD119 IIRC?
Seems ok given this includes shipping to Oz.

@bonza sold my tilleys, to me not trusty at all. But my 639 beater is super trusty. Love firing that up in the bush.

Check the small print on the frame rest/collar. That's where mine is labeled and mine is the same production date.
