So I have noticed that Coleman Canada really sucks as of late. You can no longer buy direct from them or their website. I have checked 5 different store websites and here is what I have found. Of the 5 stores, only 3 sell liquid fuel lanterns. It is the single mantle 286 model, $120 - $155. There is no other variants anymore. And good luck find any generators for these, as I haven't found a single store that sells them. All 5 of the stores all do sell dual mantle propane lanterns (Coleman Elite Pro). For mantles, the only ones I can find that are Coleman branded are the #21, #51, #95 & the slip on type. You can also still find Coleman fuel in the 3.78L (1 US gallon) containers, but it varies in price from $20 - $35. I really wish that Coleman hadn't discontinued almost all of the liquid fuel lanterns and/or even the various propane ones. I guess everyone wants battery powered ones now as it is easier and no worry about fires.
Yeah Johnathan, I agree with you, it is quite sad. Too many people nowadays are settling for something that will only last a few years (electric lamps) versus buying something that costs a bit more and will still work fine when they have grandkids. That is especially true for my generation (gen z). No one cares about quality anymore, just quantity and speed.
I am not 100% sure but I think Coleman has stopped their retail store operations Worldwide or at least almost so. They are only selling through their authorized distributors/dealers. I have not encountered any of their newer liquid fueled lanterns or stoves for sale in retail shops in my area so some years now.
I think some Coleman lantern stuff is not discontinued but Pandemic delayed. The 639 lantern was out of stock at Coleman for 2 or more years but they are now in stock intermittently.
You need to visit the online forums you belong to, to get up to speed on matters. More sources for stoves and parts, info than you visit. Duane
Better than Coleman UK - the only lanterns on their website are LED. They have not discovered how to make an LED stove yet tho...
I'm curious which store in Canada sells the 3.78L Coleman fuel for $20. Just paid $26.99 for it at Canadian Tire with a price match to Home Hardware.
I just had a look as it's been a couple month's since I first found it, but here are the prices I found (prices as of Aug 21, 2022 in CAD dollars); Canadian Tire $29.99 Home Hardware $26.99 Cabela's $34.99 Breathe Outdoors $19.98 (They should of kept the Campers Village name) The Calgary store has 2 in stock right now.
I wasn't even thinking of Breathe/Campers (also prefer the old name). Thanks! Get a 10% discount there during birthday month (September :-) ) as well, so will keep that in mind. I guess camping with the lantern for a week will be the real test of how much fuel I go through.
If that's gonna be the price in my location, I'd most likely rather use gasoline despite all its undesirable effects.
