    Hello everyone,

How do you normally I.D a jet with no markings on it? I mean if those don't have any stamp or marking. Are 500hk slightly bigger in terms of size and weight if you compare with a 250hk?
I hope you understand my question.

The jet should be larger in diameter as the hk (cp) rating increases.

    Best regards

    Well, it depends, definitely.
I have lamps from the 1910s which run on the original jet.
If you use the built-in cleaning needle plenty, it will slowly widen the orifice.

    Thanks Erik,

When cleaning the jet hole. The idea is to use the original Petromax tool, but not many times. Is that right? I think that a spare needle may also help. (Please let me know if you use any other tool or technique to remove varnish or clogged material)

Some swear by soaking in Acetone for varnish removal.

Adolfo, the jet (hole) size changes in diameter with with a change in CP or HK rating. But the dimentions of the nipple is the same from 200 to 500.
If the jet is badly blocked, I heat the nipple to a dull red and then quench.
