Hello all, this pump came with a Tilley TL10 1935-40 from the UK, and has no markings at all. My question is: Is this a Tilley pump? I haven't seen one like it before, that I can remember that is. If this lamp didn't come from the UK, I would think that it is a Kayen pump. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.
I have seen pumps like that on steel tanked PL53s never on a TL10. The blue paint on the pump is a give away too. Cheers pete
Here is another Tilley steel fount pump to show the size difference. I believe it's the clamp part 269, on the pump assembly. Thanks.
Yes its very interesting with all the different combinations of that period. It's hard to tell in Australia because we have Kayen lamps and they have no markings on the pump clamp, but most Tilley pumps have the stamp. So are we agreeing that this is a Tilley pump?
So would it be possible that this pump did belong with the Tilley TL10 XN fount? As this has the 1935-40, XN control cock, and fits in the time period of early WW11. Here is the lamp that this pump came with.
Hmm.. going by the blue paint on the pump I would say no ? There are R1 heaters with that colour paint on and they can have metal handles instead of the usual brass ones .. Is the shiny part on the pump made of Aluminium?
I think he was indicating that the blue paint is associated with steel PL53 tanks, hence that pump could be from a steel tank PL53. Cheers Tony
@pete sav Thanks for the photos, now I see why the blue is a give away. Thanks to all for their comments, I will change the pump over to the brass one of that period.
