Just got this nice quick lite but not sure of its year of manufacture or the model number. L427? Canadian made. Any information will be most appreciated.
Thanks Neil. The person that sold this one to me made a claim that it was 1933, but I didn't think that was right. Not sure, but those curly generators were a bit older than 1933.
I also have a 1927 L 427 Coleman from Canada ( 27 11) But it looks different.I changed the generator Q99/R55. Were there two different L427s from Canada in 1927 ?
Yeah. That's why I asked. Because the ones I have seen look more like your one. The Q99 curled generator is supposed to be the original L427 (or so I believe). The enamel vent seems different but on the gallery here there is an English one of the same era which is almost identical. So still a bit confusing.
@Mackburner don't forget Coleman Canada dated a bit differently than their US counterparts. I believe this lantern above is missing the second digit of the "3" stamp. If we could see a photo of the burner it may help confirm the date, or possibly add to the confusion
Hello David, Hello Reinhard, maybe I can help you a little bit with some photos from the Coleman book from 2015. Kind regards Jörg
Thanks Jorg, what an excellent book. I still don't see one that exactly matches my specimen but hey that's what makes this hobby so appealing.
Here is a photo of the burner. Does this look like 1927 or 1933? The guy I purchased this from had been collecting a lot longer than me and had advertised it as 1933. So still uncertain.
@David Cully I can't speak for certain on Canadian models, but that mixing chamber would definitely be post 1930 for US model Quicklites and I suspect the same for the Canadians as well.
