Bullfinch Happy Mantle ?

    Was having a tidy up when i saw what i thought was two old Tilley happy mantles but one turned out to be this?

    .. at first i thought it was a tilley but there is only one hole?

    Everything oil stained but you can just make out the instructions..

    ..maybe someone tied it on yrs ago?
    I dunno..? does look smaller than the real thing as you might expect
    maybe some folks have seen some in sealed packets?

    Does this look like a Happy Mantle to you??
    Patent date is just after the Tilley patent.

    Hi bullfinch made gas lamps for worksites which had a single tie mantle, I've added some pictures of one I own to show the sort thing I mean. 20241205_134241.jpg 20241205_134312.jpg 20241205_134335.jpg

    The only thing missing is the glass which is identical to a standard tilley 246 but it would have bullfinch written on it

    Well the glass is more-or-less the same shape but is often much thicker - to the extent that sometimes a Bullfinch glass won't fit into the Tilley globe cage. That's my experience, anyway, and obviously from many years ago. Having said that, I'm going to attempt to fettle and light something tomorrow (later today!) - my first go in almost ten years...
