It has been a while folks but I could not resist this one: before and after pics. I hope to fire it up at the weekend.

Nice job on that one, just have to look out for an original glass for it.

Thanks Ian. Actually somewhere in the roud tuit pile I have a leaky 310 - I could borrow the globe from that.

The spitit cup that came with it was a bit tatty and when I pulled the asbestos preheater material out of the cup it fell apart. Luckily I had a spare one that came in a box of "precious junk".
I think it its past somebody had removed the paint, and then put it in a loft.

What a lovely finish you have gotten.
    Outstanding Sir,
I kinda like the glass you have in it.

    Great job !
However, I don't like the design of this model, too radical for a French [-X

I know what you mean - but it is a bit 1950's in its outlook. Spaceships and all that !

Surely not - from the country that gave the world the Citroen DS series!! :)

They looked like something from outer space when they first landed in 1955...

OK, Italian design but generally speaking, French cars have (or did have) quirky looks and engineering. Not the all Italian design is beautiful - for example, the Fiat Multipla, surely one of the ugliest cars of all time. There was also the Renault 16...
