I received this Optimus 200 P brass version today. I have started to disassemble it already since I have a few days vacation left, so now the parts will be cleaned and polished.

I sold one of my two Optimus 1200 and got good money for it so i now bought this lantern to extend my collection.
After having studied other posts in this forum I believe it is a mid 60s lantern.

Here are som pictures of it. Will update later with the progress and when I have it in running condition.

Nice one, Matti! I have a brass 1200 and after polishing I waxed the brass with car polish. It has not tarnished yet. The brass models are perhaps not the most practical for use but they are rather pretty to look at.

Nice lanterns these Civil defense lanterns, and of very good quality compared to the late 1200M lanterns.
These are good users and beautiful as is or polished.
one of the best lanterns around.
    Enjoy / Frederik

    Hi!

I love these lanterns. I fettled a 1200 that I had som problems with (see separate post), and it was a Carburetor from a 200 that did the trick.

Collage 2018-11-18 15_26_06.jpg I'm now working on restoring a degraded Optimus 200. It now only lacks the top hat. The fuel cap just have to be replaced.

    Hi Matti
I have a similar problem. The top on one if mine is (was) enamelled steel. It has rusted away where the screws were and now just balances on top.

If you find a source for a nice new black hat I will be very interested.

I'm thinking that it might be possible to melt enamel powder. Requires much heat though.
