Hello all .. I really must congratulate Carl from Hurricane Lamps for sorting me
out ... I do not have a spot on new lamp but a Sea Anchor lamp dated but in
pristine condition ... just needed a few parts thats all ... well I emailed Carl and he
went out of his way to help .. sorting me ..helping and advice .. could not be
better.. I fully recommend his company and superb delivery packaging without hesitation..
my lamp is top draw now . Thank you Carl...

On a lesser note I contacted a company in Littlehampton Sussex...with a name
similar to Mace Kamp by email... Hey I have never even had a reply.. despite they advertising the parts on a website...and saying ...if we have it shewn on the site ... its availble... er no
you do not ... a courtesy email reply would have been appropriate Carl got my business ...MK ..have never even replied

Yeah, I've found that with Base-Camp - very difficult to get a response from them at the best of times and I've never, ever, managed to get to buy anything from them despite trying a number of times. Having said that, my daughter has twice managed to get stuff from them for my birthday and Christmas presents one year. I think she used good old-fashioned methods like pen, paper, envelope, cheque and snail mail - whatever happened to the 21st century? - perhaps it'll hit Littlehampton eventually. ](*,)

However, I know that other members here have used them with success and I expect we'll now have a succession of folk telling me how easy it is to deal with Base-Camp...

    @Alby

Would you be able to provide the web site you used for Carl from Hurricane Lamps?

    Thank you,

    Norman

Bad press for Base Camp - who I think might be a sponsor here - but unsure?
My experience is they are fine - except don't expect modern Amazon style service.
They can't do that - not would I wish it! They are are enthusiasts who are dedicated to their subject.
Do what they ask on their web page and you get your stuff.

Expect otherwise and head for disappointment - simple?

Later edit - and why can't you spell it??

    Cheers

I’ve not had any problems dealing with Base Camp from the other send of the earth; but I don’t expect immediate response from them. I understand they are a very small outfit.

    Cheers

I have ordered four times from Basecamp - no problems at all. Good quality on the items as well.
I send them an email with names and partsnumbers on what I need together with my adress and PAYPAL account.
After a couple of days (longest time was 5 days) you get confirmation email and a PAYPAL request to pay the attached invoice.
I usually also get an email when they ship.
    Can only recommend them.

Base camp is Mike Vaughn and a one man operation. Mike is very knowledgeable on lamps in general and Tilley in particular. He has a good stock of parts including some obsolete stuff. We have met a few times and discussed lamps via email often. I know it can be a bit slow at times but I have always found Base Camp to be reliable. ::Neil::

    Hi folks.

Just like to add my two penn'th!

I have dealt with Mike at Base Camp on numerous occasions and always had good advice and service. In my opinion the best way to order is by fax and most computers or printers have this facility, however I have always had replies to my emails usually requesting information or clarification before ordering.

I have also praise for Carl Fuller at www.hurricanelamps.co.uk who lives not too far away from me in Stalham, Norfolk. He too is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Both are "one man bands" and every now an then someone somewhere is going to slip through the net.

@Derek they seem to sell well in the Far East at these prices! Find a gap in the marketplace....

    Regards Jeremy

    Edit: added response to Derek.
