Hi there, i have cleaned up this 1A Alladin, i made my own pricker , it seemed to work , that is cleared the jet and stopped the flow. When cold. Now i have cranked it up i have the orange flame out side the mantle and my pricker dose not work. Im thinking the expation from the heat may have a bit to do with it. Air/ fuel mix. The ceramic burner flame spreader is not tight. Slightly loose.any suggestions. Thank you
Hello, Sometimes these Aladdin ceramic burners have a crack along the cast seem, i cannot see from the pictures what ceramic burner i mounted on the lantern (because it's so bright :-) but if you have the elongated one (compared to most ceramic burner heads) they are prone to crack open a long that seem. It took me some time to find out i had that problem on my Alladin. changed it out for an Radius 119 style burner and now it runs fine. Fred,
Hi there, is there a tool to remove the flat looking nut, i did see a picture in one of the posts it metioned an adaption sold by tw sands, im going to call them to find out.

@Darryl Durdin Do you mean the thread is loose or the ceramic is loose in the collar? Most of the ones I have seen are a bit loose. There is a heat resistant washer between the ceramic and the screwed brass section. I fixed one with muffler putty where the washer had fallen apart. I applied the putty from the inside. (Search for my post Aladdin flame spreader problem . It shows one opened up.) I'm thinking it's a worn jet causing the halo .
In most of similar pressure lanterns I've experienced, a slightly loose ceramic burner on the adaptor or mixing chamber wouldn't cause a flame halo outside the mantle. Enlarged jet is the most common cause. Also, a slightly loosened jet (sometimes this one is not so obvious, especially in those lanterns that had been running fine earlier). The leak on a slightly loosened jet might not be clearly seen when cold. But when its operating and hot, the slight leak is sufficient to introduce excess fuel into the mixing chamber, making it too rich. If you test(risky) your lantern with Gasoline or Coleman Fuel, the halo would likely dissappear. That'll mean its running too rich with kerosene.
