Welcome @nakataka. I’m not familiar with these lanterns, however I’m sure that someone on this forum will help you. Cheers Pete
That's a Japanese Petromax-styled lantern. I think you can find some post on the Hakukosha previously posted by other members in the Lamp Reference Gallery.
@nakataka Hi, and welcome to the forum. I’m assuming your lovely little lantern is quite rare as there is only one other Hakukosha (no. 3) in the reference gallery. Thanks for sharing with us. Regards Jeremy @Mackburner Edit: crossed with @MYN
Wonderful lanterns! Both of your lanterns are in very good condition, better than the one example we have in the Lamp Reference Gallery even. And you have 2 lanterns? Are they both Hakukosha? It would be excellent to have good quality photographs of them both so that they could also go into the Lamp Reference Gallery. Are these two lanterns all of your collection or do you have more? I would be very interested to know if you have others and also if there are more lantern collectors in Japan? Regards Colin Geer

That's a very nice collection and I am certain it will grow in size! I like the bright and shiny lanterns! I have just purchased a 'Golden Globe' brand lantern very similar to the Butterfly lantern.
I think it was made before 1945 Original figure Mica glove Small shade Tank ring Reflector Other than the handle All brass Valve packing is cork Leather gasket The generator valve is full of wrappedfelt Very elaborate making!
thank you everyone! I started collecting kerosene lanterns half a year ago. In Japan, becoming a kerosene lantern collector is referred to as "falling in kerosene swamp." There are also many lantern collectors in Japan. They have more unusual old lanterns. I also fell in the kerosene swamp perfectly.
The Hakukosha appears to be amongst the well-made lanterns of Asia. I'd say they are quite rare around the World. Not sure if they rare in Japan.
Ha ha ha, I fell in a kerosene swamp just over one year ago and it is impossible to get out again... but I like it here! Wonderful photo and the small top shade is different than the ones you see in the UK - very nice shape.
Hi nakataka, I love this lantern Very cosmetic lantern in fantastic condition I think a rare bird Congratulation nakataka. Regards, Titoo
@nakataka Nothing to be sorry about. Your English is far better than any sorry attempt of mine at another language. Beautiful lanterns. Many thanks for sharing. Regards Jeremy
