Well in my continued search for parts I placed a bid on a collection of lamps Tilley, Calor and an unknown green lamp.... the photo was listed on line and was taken from the other side of a room with a phone, the lamps were covered in thick sawdust,,,, you get the idea. I could make out a couple of what i thought to be 246a one with an intact glass and a couple of hoods...... and this green lamp??? So I bid I won and the very nice mad even dropped them off for me........ here is the Green Lamp I know there is a lot of information about these on line but I was so chuffed i wanted to post a pic Does anyone know how I could date this lamp and is there a seal kit similar to the Tilley Lamps ? Please have a look at Hidden Treasures Part 2 as its got me a tad confused and put a smile on my face at the same time OK, I'm Hooked ! Andy
@Andy-H the Vapalux looks to in reasonably good nick. It will be a good fettling project. Being “hooked” is pretty good .... as they say “resistance is useless”. It could be worse, you could start desiring pressure irons and heaters and ..............
Tie-on Tilley mantles can be used on Vapalux lanterns but probably not the pre-tied ones. Vapalux vapourisers have a larger diameter than the Tilley equivalent so the burner spigot is also wider to suit. Thus the pre-tied Tilley mantle has a hole at the bottom that won't fit over the Vapalux (and Bialaddin to save you asking - same lanterns and manufacturer, just different brand names) spigot. Bialaddin/Vapalux mantles aren't hard to come by, though - there'll be oodles on eBay, I imagine...
