    Hi All
    I sometimes can’t help myself.
Seeing that the Tilley stoves are almost as rare as rocking horse fertiliser I decided to build one. Like this.

    957056DF-BF31-4F7C-9723-472FD2D41AAD.jpeg

The major requirement is the connection between the Tilley control valve and the Primus burner assembly. To achieve this I used the brass threaded connection from the older style Tilley generators.

The brass connector is threaded and will unscrew from the steel generator.

From the bay of evils, the English Tilley parts retailer ‘Juliands’ I purchased a Primus stove riser tube, they’re quite cheap.

    50B4AD84-9A34-468C-BBBA-7AC131505255.jpeg

It was a relative simple task on the lathe to bore out the base end of the riser tube and then silver solder the Tilley generator connection into the base of the Primus riser tube.

    Now the assembly.

The money shot. Here is the preheating as one would do a Primus stove.

    Now we’re in business.

The great thing that I found is that the Tilley’s wire cage is the exact height from the flame, no modifications were required.

At anytime, by unscrewing the Primus burner and reinstalling the Tilley generator and then the Tilley burner, it’s a lamp again.

The best is the water boiled on this makes a grand cup of coffee.

    Thank you for looking.
    Pete

That's a cool thing to have if it's the real thing. P100 stoves are harder to find than the CS56. I've only ever seen two. ::Neil::

I'm absolutely loving this, one question I have is in regard of 'conducted' heat down the frame legs to the font. The P100 has a separate collar so heat conduction through an extra layer. Just wondered because its a great fettle.

I shouldn't think it matters. Stove burners don't get that hot below the magic bit. For instance the lipstick types as on a Primus 96 are soft lead soldered to the brass fitting. As for the pot rings they are too far from the fount for there to be any conducted heat problems.

@podbros well are you ready? This may be one of the times that I won't be painting, yes you heard me correctly haha.
As you stated the bail does get red hot, why waste time or money on this Frankie, as she is perfect as is.
I just need some Primus seals to finish her off, thanks for all the comments and thanks again Pete.
They say two are better than one, I wonder will we see a third?

@AussiePete , I think you have started something great, I have a Tilley stove, it’s very cool but this idea opens up a lot of what to do with surplus’s bits and pieces and parts, very inspirational.
Here’s my effort for the day being in lock down image.jpg
I’ve got it together now to make some seals
