I'm deeply sorry to have to announce the death of one of our longest standing and well-respected stove and lamp mates, Trevor Halliday. It's a bit of a tale but he hadn't responded to my emails and telephone calls for a couple of days so I called his son, Dan, earlier this morning. Together, we went round to Trevor's house and eventually had to call the police. They broke into Trevor's house and found him dead. I'm still a bit shell-shocked at the moment, although Trevor has been in declining health for a while now. I'll keep you informed as things turn out. In the meanwhile, I'm sure you'll all remember Trevor in your own special way...
I never knew Trevor but his presence here through his posts made it feel like I knew him and I am saddened by his passing. Really enjoyed his sense humor and the comradery he had with his long time friends here.
This flagpole was part of my retirement present just over six years ago and has lurked, horizontal, in my back garden ever since. Trevor came over about three weeks ago and helped me finally get it erected:- I knew it would fly a flag at half-mast at some point but I never thought it would be so soon and not for Trevor. Please light a lamp or stove for him and post a picture - I'm sure his son Dan will feel much comfort knowing how well-regarded Trevor was, the whole world over. Many thanks in advance...
Truly RIP Trevor. I always wanted to ask him about how Shagratork came about. Now I really wish I had. David - thanks for letting us know. It must have been hard. It is good you were not far away.
David Thank you for conveying this very sad news. I appreciate Trevor was a close and good friend - and it must be a real shock to you as well as his family.
This is very sad news indeed! I am so sorry that we have lost yet a great and friendly member, and all my thoughts goes to his family in the hard period they has to face. Thanks for letting us all know David. I will light a lamp for Trevor tonight.
I am very sad to wake to this news. Trevor was a wonderful part of this community, and an honourable person. Even though I never met him in person, I will miss his presence here and at CCS. My sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to those of you who knew him personally. Rest In Peace, Trevor. Tony
Trevor’s family are in my thoughts as are his friends. I only had the pleasure of meeting Trevor at two CCS/CPL meets and found him to be a very warm and welcoming person. I for one will miss his input on both forums. Jeremy
