    Hi All,

    Been recently bitten by the lamp bug, and have picked up "couple" of Petromax's following a new Petromax purchase that took some fettling to get working. Thanks for the advice and help thus far that allowed me to get things moving, I soon learnt that older is better.

    I've now got two Bunderwehr 829B). Also have a Swiss 250 Geniol, not running yet as it is still on the straight generator. Thought you would appreciate a picture of my 1959 and 1960 829's in action:

    Welcome @Alex Smith. Even with the straight vapouriser, your Geniol 250 will work o.k. with kero but for best results, pep up your paraffin with petrol. 10% will increase volatility but not dangerously so.

    Henry, thank you for the information, much appreciated. New mantles for the 250 arrive next week, so I'll give it a go then. The Swiss Geniol/Petromax are nice lamps, and will be ideal for camping. Regards, Alex

    @Alex Smith I found that the straight vapouriser lantern worked well enough on neat kero as long as it was in a reasonably sheltered position, it was only when it was subjected to sudden strong blasts of cold air that it tended to flare a little, adding 10% petrol eliminated the flare-ups.

    Henry.

    @Henry Plews

    Thank you for your helpful advise. The new mantles arrived yesterday, and was able to run it up on neat Kero last night. Regards, Alex
