Yes, it’s been bloody cold along with a perishing West wind here on the Darling Downs. But no way near a cold as it would be in Tasmania in your neck of the woods, or bay, @Tony Press. I’ve had the Coleman Hot Ray running to keep temperatures in a more comfortable range. Cheers Pete

Looks wonderful Tony, I bet the heat really feels good. Those barely above freezing temperatures are the worst. 1 deg and humid can feel much cooler than -6 and dry, especially with the wind cutting right through you.
Martin, I keep hearing it is cold but I'm just not feeling it. I think a few doses of harden up need to be handed out @Tony Press that Kayen is glowing very nicely ... is that cage upside down ?
I’ve just seen a snippet on the news showing the snow that had fallen over the week-end in Australia and the kangaroos hopping around in it.
Hasn’t snowed up here in Queensland, although the Media pushed it as a possibility in a town called Stanthorpe, not too far from us. Bloody cold though in Toowoomba, Monday it got down to 2.1degC and windy and this morning there’s a good frost on the grass, today it should get to a nice temperature of 19degC. After all it’s winter time and the day temperatures are nice, it’s the wind that’s the devil. Cheers Pete

Hello Pete, the weather here gets worse than that, a severe storm force 12 from the north is not uncommon and that is the weather which burns even the grass black, it's the salt spray which is being driven by the hurricane which does that. The wind not only drives the sea over the cliffs, it also drives stones of varying sizes; within living memory it threw a rock onto the roof of the Eshaness lighthouse accommodation building that was so large that it took two men to shift it. I stay indoors during such weather.
Today the magpies are calling and the sky is clear-blue. The frost will disappear soon. Australian magpies have one of the most beautiful calls in the world, and it’s one thing that induces homesickness when you’re far away. They have a curious habit of calling at night when it’s clear and the moon is shining bright. I could here the neighbourhood clan calling at 1am last night. @Tony Press Certainly more tuneful than the magpies here in the U.K. whose calls have the same effect as fingernails being scraped on a chalkboard. Henry.
I quite agree Henry and never thought I’d see magpies described as songbirds. Magpies and crows are my pet hates here.
