Words fail me... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200653631258&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123 "Professionally distressed" - my ar$e! (in the words of the Bard - Jim Royle...)
Who wouldn’t be distressed looking at this battered piece ? Better showed at a post modern art exhibition! /Conny
Yesterday I bought two naturally distressed lamps from a car boot for spares ? £10.0 the pair. but I don't think it would take much to get them to go despite the condition. Al
Too right! - given the current value of scrap brass, the tanks are probably worth a couple of quid each. The globes are also worth having. But it probably wouldn't take too much to have them running - seals and a pump leather each most likely. I wouldn't bother if either needed a new vapouriser though - instead, I'd spend the money on an ex-military Vapalux (plenty on eBay right now...)
On the other hand I bought a new ex-military Vapalux from the "auto-jumble" section at the Great Dorset Steam Fair 3 weeks ago for GBP20 less than the cheapest I saw on ebay (I have a 'thing' about Vapalux lamps, and can rarely pass up the chance to get a new 'new' one). PS sorry I didn't realise one needed to give a reason for edits; I also have a thing about correcting bad grammar and spelling mistakes (and yes I know that's what the preview button is for).
You don't. Simply click on the '+' next to the words 'Reason for Edit' at the bottom of the 'Edit Post' screen and then click on the box next to 'Don't mark this post as edited'. Then you don't get the pointless message about no reason being given for editing. You would only really need to give a reason for an edit if by editing your post you've then spoiled the coherence of the thread. For example, if you make a mistake in a post which someone later points out and you then go back to correct it, it makes sense to say you've edited your post and why. Otherwise the other member's post will look silly, pointing out a mistake that's no longer there (because you've subsequently removed it)...
This guy is an amatuer. If he really wanted to beat the crap out of it he should have broken the glass and not put such a nice polish on it... Seriously though, what an idiot but to each there own. Its like purposely wrecking a classic auto.
I'm surprised he even got three offers, up to £30 - all declined - but I suppose the globe, vapouriser, burner and other spare parts are worth that. The tank and hood are scrap. Lord knows if there aren't enough genuine, already beaten-up ex-military 320s available for next-to-nothing...
Well I offered him £10. Sort of sending a message really and as you say the glass was worth more than that. ::Neil::
