Testing the lamp in the backyard, with a very crude/simple tree hanger. Anchor 950 doing an admirable job!

    Cheers,

    Wow ...... Nice light up.
The hanger appears to be doing the job, just. With the weight of the lantern, the mechanical force on the wire arms where they meet the tree would be quite substantial.
As the 1890 poem by Rudyard Kipling says “You’re a better (braver) man than I, Gunda Din”.
    Cheers
    Pete

    Thanks!

Even though it was just hastily bent into shape by some scrap metal, I feel quite safe that it holds up well enough. The downward angle of the hanger is mostly due to the tree growing at an angle, not the metal rods bending. It was «designed» to sit perpendicular (or maybe with a slight upward angle) to the tree it was attached to, and as you can see from the picture, it still is, even with the weight of the lamp :) The rods bend a little, but are nowhere near the point of plastic deformation. Maybe the rods seem thinner than they really are.

Hey @george, sorry to hear about your dog being hit by lightning and exploding
Did your electric fence survive? :D
    Cheers

If a huge amount of light is required, you can't beat an Anchor 950, just don't let it get damp!
