Just wondering if there are any other mantles that can be used on the AL15 and 21 lamps apart from the 190 and 191's? I would be interested to hear what the differences are (smaller?) and whether anyone has used the standard 164's on these lamps ? There appears to only be one source of these mantles available online. Regards David
Hello David, you can use the 164-X mantle, but you will have to unpick the knot on the top string so that it can be retied to grip the burner. If you find any double tie mantles which are produced untied, then it won't hurt to try one. Jeff.
Thanks Jeff, might give it a go, I was worried if the mantles 164 were bigger then it might damage the reflective surface inside the lamps? As you can tell I am not too up on these particular AL models but will soon learn Regards David
Hello David, the same trick can be used on the Tilley floodlights, but FL., mantles are available on Ebay. I seem to recall that Tilley mantles used to be sold untied, can anyone verify that? Jeff.
