This one seems to have been delivered only with the rapid torch. No spirit cup, and no enlarged hole for pouring in meths. The globe is aftermarket, but otherwise I believe the parts are original. The bottom has "1040" engraved (by hand). Mildly cleaned and fettled to working order. No cosmetic restoration has been done. Lamp details:
The newer Petromax lanterns have both spirit cup and rapid lighter. You have less models to choose from. To the best of my knowledge the older Petromax lanterns either have a spirit cup (say, an 821) or a rapid lighter (say, an 827). This Petromax is wartime (Oct 1940) and to the best of my knowledge the 828 came only with the rapid lighter. If you wanted the spirit cup model then you bought the 826. Where are the Petromax experts, Wim, Reinhard?
Congratulations @HaakonJ Great finding, Cleaned up neatly. The. Red colour in the Top coming as per factory production or done later ?
ThanksI for your comments. @george yes, I believe you are right. While this rapid heater works quite reliably, I will probably add a spirit cup anyway. @ASHOK KUMAR It is from the factory. You can see som rust spots where the paint has come off, in the first image.
