    Hi all...

My Petromax has a loose rapid preheater closure as I mentioned before. Even tightening up the spring doesn't seem to have solved the slight leak. I could by a complete new unit, BUT... I'm not a fan of rapid preheaters and never use them, so is there a way to seal up or block it while leaving it in position?

Close the jet hole with Solder.
Or unscrew the jet cap and put a rubber seal under it and put jet cap back in place. This would be reversible

Excellent. I'll try the rubber seal idea first, thanks!

I have tried with both a viton and lead seal under the jet, but it didn't stop the leak. they just get squashed by the second jet underneath. I had to use solder. Maybe it works if you avoid tightening the jet firmly when using seals underneath.
