I don't think Ashok means NOS as in New Old Stock, but Nos as an abbreviation of "numbers".

That's really quite a lot of items in one go, @ASHOK KUMAR
That'll keep you busy for awhile.
I remembered mentioning sometime back, that you are much more likely to find more Petromax-styled pressure lanterns in India than many other places. A fair amount made in India too.
That excluded blowlamps and bicycle pumps of course.

That is an impressive number of lamps and pumps and blowlamps to find all in one go! Which model do you think you will start cleaning and fettling first?

The pump with the stirrup shaped base is very similar to one I have, (brought with tank and hollow wire lights).

NOS does refer to 'new, old stock' but Ashok wrote "Nos" which is different.

'Nos' is an abbreviation for 'numbers' so Ashok was simply saying he'd got 24 pressure lamps - count 'em! Hope that helps... :)

Ashok. That is a huge haul and very interesting as there are a lot I don't know.
Hercules, Petrox, Phillips, Prabhat, Goldmohar and Shalimar I am familiar with and are Indian brands listed in the PLC and yes Tony it will be revised. There are already 4 new brands listed and four revisions/alterations since the last one.

I know Diamond only as US made lamps and Universal as a Swedish lantern so as your lamps are all Petromax types they are new brands to me as are all the rest. So I would very much like to see images of these 9 lanterns please.

Atlas, American, Caravan, Diamond, Eagle, Farrell, Prima, Universal and Vinstar please.

And please post them in separate topics, thanks.
That is one single lantern for each topic, please.
It will be easier to move each and every one to the correct forum section then.

    Ok, ok, I stand corrected.
I am getting confused when English language is written with capitals.

Well, Wim, generally speaking, abbreviations are supposed to be written in capitals with full stops at the end of each word so they can be distinguished from words which have the same letters. Having said that, lots of folk today are either too lazy or too ignorant to follow the conventions so it's not surprising there's confusion at times. For instance, when someone dies, people want to put 'R.I.P.' after their name for either 'Rest In Peace' or the Latin 'Requiescat In Pace' but instead the put 'Rip' or even worse 'rip' which are words with a completely different meaning and seem to me to be rather disrespectful - the exact opposite of the effect they're trying to achieve.

Anyway, now knowing that, N.O.S. (three full stops thus three separate words) means New Old Stock. 'No.' is an abbreviation for 'Number' i.e. one full stop thus one word and is not the opposite of 'Yes'. It follows that 'Nos.' is an abbreviation for 'Numbers' - one full stop thus one word and the 's' gives the indication of the plural. Hope that helps... :)

P.S. (Post Script) If you'd like me to explain the use of the apostrophe, any time, just say... ;)
