    What's the difference between the 282 and the 285? I have a 285 and was wondering if I need a 282 to keep it company.

    282 is single mantle...as far as I know. But I'm pretty new to all this! Both are petrol/gasoline. When I first got this lamp I just fitted the first mantle that came to hand. The proper Coleman mantle (thanks to base-camp.co.uk) filled out beautifully and has been running for 2 hours now, super bright!

    Dark now, 214 does not like gradual pressure drop. Starts to flare, pumping doesn't help. Need to clean jet with a few on/off turns. These lamps all have their own little foibles....

    House nicely lit up...a small single malt whisky is in order...

    Sorry...282 is double mantle, 242 single mantle!

    Nice line up, good light and a single malt (or two) makes the evening. Seeing as it was so pleasant tonight, I had much the same thought. Sitting outside, cleaning up a 826 Petromax , lit by a 1954 828E, and a 1959 828 as it got dark, while enjoying a beer. Most enjoyable. Interesting both lanterns 350cp, fitted with the same mantles, running the same fuel. One slightly brighter, than the other, requiring more pressure and nosier than its counterpart, they all have their own individual mannerisms.

    @ColinG
    282 is Dual Fuel, single mantle
    285 is Dual Fuel, double mantle
    All the rest is the same,
    Incl. the vaporizer.

    I.e. the cp rating is about the same.
    But no shade from vaporizer for the double mantle version.
