Hi everybody..! I’m newbie at this forum and have no knowledge of lamps. When my mother passed away I found a Radius 119A in a stove. I google 119A but I cant find much info about this lamp?!? Can anyone help me ... what is A meaning?? Shall I sell it or just throw it away?? Please help me and excuse my spelling :-)
Hi Matz. You have quite a rare lantern there, so congratulations. In catalogues, the 119A is a 500 CP lantern, where the "normal" 119 is rated 300 CP. So I guess that's what the "A" means; that you have a bit more powerful lantern than the standard 119. I bet jets and needles might be trickier to find, if you find your self in need of any of those. But the missing collar under the globe rest is possible to get excellent replicas of, and the pump shouldn't be too hard to find either in case you want to get the lantern in complete order.
Do not throw it away! Someone here who is knowledgable can help you with lantern. It appears the collar is missing and the pump, but from what I can see everything else is there. This is a nice project to restore!
@Matz sweden Welcome from Queensland Australia. I hope that you keep this lamp and search for the parts to restore it. It certainly worth restoring. During the restoration process and particularly when you first light it there is a good chance that you’ll be bitten by the lamp bug. I hope you do because it’s a great hobby with many friends to be made world wide. Cheers Pete
Matz That is a very interesting lantern. Please take as many photographs of it’s different aspects as you can. If you aren’t going to keep it, someone here will surely take it off your hands. If you are going to get mail it to anyone, the glass needs to be carefully protected from damage. One of you fellow citizens may be close enough to drive over to save it.
