I see a Tilley on the other table that was already ealy on my wanted list.... Just but the design of it.
You must mean Stu's Tilley IL37. This one. They are rare things. I traded this one to Stu a while back but it was missing the reflector and the support frame. Stu did a nice job of reproducing the reflector and also made a stand for it. It was not lit at Ipswich but it is in working order. This is the only shot I did of Stu's display. ::Neil::
Yeah well you will have to shake a lot of trees before another one falls out. I don't know how many there are out there but at a guess maybe less than 10. They were used by some rail companies in smaller signal boxes so a few will have survived. ::Neil::
That Tilley model is scarce, but I have seen at least two examples listed on UK., Ebay over the years.
I moved on my IL37 last year - I don't know if it was counted in the estimated 10 survivors. It came from a railway station somewhere just north of Edinburgh. It took me about 15 years to find one...
Great photos! Sadly we could not make it this year as it was the day of our return from the west country to Essex, and after the 300+ miles hack to get home that same day, I could not face another 120 miles round trip. I consider myself reprimanded and will try harder next year.
Hi Greg I should be displaying (and cooking) again next year so hopefully see you there. Regards Jeremy @OldGreyDog
According to the website they are still closed as a museum... unless something happens v. soon i cant see it happening...it's only 2 months away?? Stuff can change so quickly? ..Not usually in a positive way either :/
I have had an email saying that it is Definitely Cancelled for this year. What would be the chances of some sort of Virtual Lamplight Wheels thingy happening???
Official or unofficial? Official, I'd doubt - but you could always suggest it to them. Unofficial, you could organise it here. Well volunteered, Sir!
Just had a look at their website and they are open most of this month so if you are in the area and experiencing the great British summer I thoroughly recommend it www.ipswichtransportmuseum.co.uk
Hi folks still alive and kicking although not currently active in the lamping scene at present (temporary delay only). Nothing showing on Ipswich Transport Museum special events page at present: Hoping to be more active this year! Regards to all, Jeremy
Hi Jeremy.. good to hear You actually jogged my memory.. I emailed them and pretty much got the reply that you found :/ I was wondering if whoever it was from CPL that arranges or has contact with ITM were to get in touch with them and that might help to get things rolling? Would that be yourself or perhaps @Mackburner or @Henry Plews ? I thought it might be worth a go ??? It’s such a great place and must be really atmospheric with all the lamps blazing away
@X246A Hello Jeremy, nice to hear that you are still Jeremying if not still lamping. I don't suppose you know when the next meeting at tuddenham is? James
