It came in a very old box that is falling to pieces. Is that worth keeping? Also, in the box was a item I don't recognise; any ideas? Or is it just a random item that ended up in the box. See pics.
Hi and welcome to the forum. As Wim mentioned, some photos of the lamp. The other part, difficult to make out, some more photos with some dimensions would be good. Hope you’re going to fettle the lamp and fire it up? Any help you might need here, just ask. Stevie
@Sefton , did that shield thing in the 3rd pic come in the box ?? As far as I know that aint from no 246B You've got my interest
Looking at the unknown item, (it is not but) resembles a pan ring from under the element of electric stove. If it fits over centre vent of the Tilley may be a plate warmer or such, ???
If I recall correctly, the mystery piece is from underneath and around the burner of a (gassie?) stove - the three thin wires are the pan supports. Sorry, I can't remember which make or model but if you ask over at our sister site, Classic Camp Stoves (link at the top of the page), you're more likely to get an answer than over here. It would have been nice to see exactly which lamp you have because, although X246B is clearly written on the box, another lamp may have found its way in there...
@Sefton Hi and welcome to the forum. As a David said a gassie item. I’m thinking Camping Gaz Bluet! Regards Jeremy
@Sefton Welcome from Queensland Australia. Some pictures of the lamp you found would be good. You never know, it may be something other than a X246B. Cheers Pete
Where these an optional extra ? There's a Camping Gaz Bleuet on ebay at the moment which has the "flame guard dish" but there are more which do not have this item. Not quite, they hook over the burner. Henry.
The item is the windshield from an early campingaz stove that used the pierce type canisters as shown in the image borrowed from Google
"Dump" surely the correct name is recycling facility A place I have found many lamps, stoves and blowlamps..... worth getting to know the staff
