From what I've read, look for "Made in Germany" (as opposed to "Germany Regd") and 10-pointed star (as opposed to 11) on the fount.
@Dale Riggins G'day Dale, what does the label on the collar say? Some more photos including the stamping on the fount would help.
If made in Germany/Europe I look for "Made in Germany" on the hood, inner hood and fount. The Rapid pre-heater will also date it, yours looks a later design. @poncho is correct, if marked "Germany Regd" then it is a later model made in China from the 1980's.
Check the bottom, too. If there is more than four digits stamped in the botton it's not made in Germany.
The date code stamping with the four digits started in about 1961 or maybe a little earlier in 1960 at the Altena factory in Germany. Stamping with six digits is only on the Chinese made lanterns and started in the year 2000 and is only a production code. Lanterns made before 1961 has usually a date code scratched on the bottom. Your lantern has the quick lighter from 1964. Michael
The label on the box look suspicious. The lantern image on my boxes is sharp, also the label has the text on top: Printed in Germany and on the bottom: Made in Germany. Since all the parts are interchangeable dating can be tricky.
The lantern's probably from Germany but the pump knob might be a replacement. Also, check out the rivets on the nameplate. If they are the newer round-headed aluminium types, its China. The originals are not aluminium. The lantern does not look sparkling new like most Chinese versions. The box does not belong to this unit and its not from Germany. If there are more pictures, we could tell better.
If The fount has 4digit stamp, But 4th digit is 7,8,9,0 Then its made in 80-90ies by Hipolito in Portugal. Because in stamping of the 60ies the 4th digit is the weekday of production. For which usually in Germany 1=Monday, 6=Saturday
