    Hi All,

Without getting into the pros and cons as to whether it is or not but recently sighted the Instructions for the Coleman 242 K.

According to Coleman Canada the 242 K burns " Kerosene, Gasoline, Benzine, Petrol, Peroleum Paraffin and Essence.

    Also known as the "Baby"

Yes it probably will run on gasoline. Most Coleman kero lamps will but that does not make it safe to do so. 242K does not have a needle valve pump check so may be prone to check valve failure. However it may have a pump discharge tube up to the top of the tank and if it does then I can't see a problem here. ::Neil::

Yes I was too idle to go look but I thought it might. Means it will be OK to run on gasoline. It is probably adviseable to make sure the pump check seal is good but if it fails the lamp just goes out. In theory the lamp should work better on kero but sometimes these old kero lamps can actually do better on gasoline. ::Neil::

I thought as much, it was just information I came across and thought to share it.
