Hello everyone. New member here. I recently acquired a Volcan Radiosol table lamp and have begun disassembly and cleaning of it's components. The lamp is complete except for the globe and still wears its reflector. My question is; are parts such as pump leathers, fuel cap gaskets, and globes still obtainable? I've been collecting all things Coleman for several years so improvising such parts wouldn't be impossible but a parts source for this lamp would be convenient. And what size Peerless mantle would be correct? I mention Peerless because i have all the various sizes on hand. Thank you-Tom
Welcome @Tom Waite from Queensland Australia. I’m not familiar with this type of lamp, no doubt others on this forum will be able to help. Have a Merry Christmas anda safe and happy New Year. Cheers Pete
Welcome, all parts are only available if you buy a spare parts lamp. So making then yourself is the best next option. A 500cp mantle will do.
This is a Volcan 400. They are a very stylish lamp and very Art Deko. I am not sure of its rated power but perhps 500cp. Mine works pretty well with a Coleman 21A mantle. The globe is 120mm x 120mm which is a bit larger than a Petromax type so not easy to find. Parts such as seals and leather pump cups are pretty standard so not really a problem but all the control and burner parts are unique to Volcan so the only way is to salvage parts from a Voklcan or Radiosol lantern. Best way with these is to talk to a collector in Argentina. ::Neil::
Thanks to those of you that replied! I was able to fit, with a bit of trimming, a standard Coleman one piece filler cap gasket and with some slight alterations a Coleman model 427 pump leather should work just fine. The lamp surely shows it's age but it cleaned up well and i'm looking forward to seeing it running. And i'm also wondering how this lamp made it's journey to a small town in the mountains of North Carolina? Merry Christmas! And thanks again!-Tom
Merry Christmas @Tom Waite and to your family. Don't forget the pictures of the "Money Shot" (first light). Enjoy Cheers Pete
In that case a Radius 119 globe would fit as well, so perhaps the australians with their 119 copies could be a source too. Broadening your options, Tom, and welcome to the forum! Regards, Mike
