This is a BK heater from Holland 'Mike the stove' kindly gave me some additional info....... you have a Saf-e-Fire made by BK in > Holland and imported by the Royal Kampen Works of Moorgate, London. > It was available in the UK until the mid 1960's and retailed at > £8-10 shillings including tax. Regards
Hi Longiliy very nice paraffin heater before reading your post, looking at the pic i noticed the esso blue decal on the heater tank, and thought how unusual for a dutch heater as all the vintage paraffin heaters here were either a valor or Alladin british made, and wondered if this make was immported here. I realy like the look of these heaters with the all glass section of chimney showing all the blue flame
Great! I bought one like this a few months ago and the glass was missing too. I asked a glass blower to make one of laboratory glass which works great but the cost was more than twice as much as the price for the heater
Well, you know where to go now aye ! Good luck and fingers crossed you get your glass stephan, its a lovely heater
Hi, Thanks for your kind offer, I will send you a message. I noticed that on mine the label states "Original Haller". The other label has a short direction how to turn the chimney to raise / lower the flame.
Stephan Ok, have a look here, a few lines down you'll see another link for the 12 page manual. It will also feature your Haller which you may find interesting http://www.milesstair.com/Netherlands.html Ray
That's a real beauty! Besides pressure lamps and heaters, I also collect wick heaters and have been looking for a Haller for quite some time now. They are not at all common here in the US. I do have an "Original Haller" but its a double 4" flat wick model, kind of like an oversize Beatrice. Dan
Hi thanks for the link for the manual...is there anywhere i can get a new glass for one of these please? The unit i have needs a full refurbish so if anyone could tell me how much it is for a glass i can decide whether to spend on it thanks in advance
There were at least two variations of the Haller Saffire. Mine has a Schott Suprax globe which has a shoulder at the top which fits into the metal section of the chimney. I used a red marker pen to draw two circles around the white cork ball fuel level indicator to make it more visible. Miles Stair considers these to be the most aesthetically elegant paraffin heaters. I think I agree with him
I bought mine more than ten years ago with its box and a spare wick from a retired gentleman in Wellington, Cape Winelands, whose father had brought it with him from Holland.
There’s a Haller Original, I think, for sale at the moment on Gumtree in Hampshire. Not sure if it will interest anyone here but it’s a cute wee thing.
