Good afternoon, I recently picked up a couple of lamps at a garage sale and would appreciate it if anyone can identify them. Both have Tilley control knobs but no other identifying numbers. The larger of the 2 is obviously meant to have a handle/cage which I will try to source. The smaller has no obvious place for fitment of cage so I assume this is some kind of table lamp? Thanks, Alan
Welcome aboard! The lamp on the left in your first photograph, is a Tilley ML., it was designed to fit into brackets and hangers etc., and the first link below shows the relevant page. The proper bolts and flat springs for holding the glass are missing and it's been rigged with screws, the globe is correct, but they do break easily and they are expensive to replace. The second lamp is a Tilley PL-52/3 which is missing it's carrying handle and hood and cage and it's been fitted with a Tilley table lamp gallery and burner and the glass is actually for a wick hurricane lantern. Nice find! As others have said, be very careful with the globes, they look original in which case they would cost a great deal to replace! I'd even be tempted to buy modern copies to run them with so these don't get damaged.

Oh another mariner! I work with a lot of Orcadians, most likely we have plenty of mutual friends. Welcome to the forum. There was another guy on here last year who got hold of all the KL(?) Tilleys from the community hall in Orkney. Will have to search through to find the old thread.
