After a month of heavy paraffin lamp accumulation it was time to venture out of my comfort zone and go to the dark side. Got myself some petrol lamps. A small one for backpacking and a larger one for car camping. When lighting them up for the first time I expected fireballs, flamethrowers and Smaug flying over, but to be honest it worked just fine. First couple of seconds some flames and after that a pair good working lanterns. I'm happy.
@Emiel Nice light up and I am with you, fired my first Coleman 220J last night. Wasn't sure what to expect, but really impressed with a good running simple lantern doing what it should! The lantern didn't need anything doing do to it, other than filling with fuel and fitting of a mantle. Extremely pleasant!

Coleman's are the easiest to use and most reliable of the lantern types and brands I've tried. Modern Coleman's not made as well as vintage and not as interesting but they still are very reliable and the most easiest to use lanterns.
