Our state owned utility is at it again, and out came a few lanterns. From left to right: Coleman 241G an 249 Scout, Hipolito 350 and Apex Marathon.

The whole family enjoyed it. Granny had the 237 (not in the photo).

I did however realise that I have not found an efficient way to quickly fill a number of lanterns without making a mess. Any suggestions?

    I have tried:
    Syphoning
    Can and funnel
    Squeqee bottle

Love that light up Johan. Filling lanterns without spills is a problem. What works best for me is to use a dollar store plastic drinks pitcher and disposable 16-20 drinks bottle. I pour gas from the can into the pitcher and then take a small funnel and fill a water bottle from the pitcher. I use a funnel and water bottle to fill the fount. I think the pitcher allows me to control pouring the fluid the way the can won't and the plastic water bottle allows the same controlled pour with a pre-measured amount of gas so no over spill.

    Nice practical light up.
The only efficient way of filling the fount’s that I can put forward is ....... fill them before you need the lamp, you have time to do it then ....... easy for me to say though.
    Cheers

Haha Pete, that is made me smile.

It is exactly the kind of thing I would say to my employees and children. Humble pie eaten.

    Looks good!

I used a bit of tubing on a push pump like barristas use to dispense syrup for coffee drinks. Threaded right on to a 1 gal kero jug, and dispensed a measured 1oz/ push.

Hi Johan, Exciting times with the power utility, been having our share as well, so of course an opportunity to have the lanterns and lamps running.
Regarding the filling, I am using a pressure sprayer, that takes 5 liters to fill up. works well for me, especially to fill up if lamp has run empty. Will try take some pictures when at home tonight
