It was too good to pass up. I have to back off for a while until I get my finances back on an even keel. My next expense will be to have the tinsmith make me a shade and a smoke bell for it. All of the common smoke bells over here are an inch too small!
Yeah i know what you mean on the old finances, I shouldnt of bought the Tilley 246A but it looked too good, Im looking for a table lamp next..... I hope you get the parts made up ok? Adam

I put a little oil in the pump and tweeked the NRV spring, and now it's holding pressure and the vaporizer seems to be breathing just fine. So cool!
Hello AL, it's in good nick! Sometimes those Tilley lamps are dated, my example has 161 stamped on it, which is January 1961. The numbers are hidden by the ring which the lamp sits in. It will make an interesting video, once you have made the reflector and heat deflector for it, Jeff.

Hello AL, yes, it it is, I had another one of those tanks and it was stamped for 1962 or 3, I don't recall which month, another collector has it now, Jeff.
Polished all of the lacquer off the top of the fount, so it's looking better now. Put some kerosene in and started to pump. Uh oh, the NRV started leaking, and then the valve started leaking at the fount. Ordered a SP1 service kit just to give it a fresh start in a new home. (Ordered the Tilley book too since I was paying for the postage.) Grateful not to have to pay the VAT that most of you endure.
Hi Al, You'll love the Tilley book. And if you do, Ian's Vapalux and Bialaddin book is a treat also. I hope you are aware of the different washers that come in the different washer/service kits. A new Tilley SP1 service kit may not have the proper washers for an older pump and cock. Just a heads up. Dan
