This is a fully equipped Optimus 200P, besides the pump and the fuel cap there is a fuel gauge and a pressure gauge, looks like a dashboard

The globe is a replacement, but I have an original one on a safe place, very safe...

I have added a Petromax type heat shield that had to be slightly modified to fit with the preheater cup.

It's a very reliable and bright lamp, I noticed the fuel gauge does not exactly show how much fuel is left but it shows when there is enough filled in, more handy than to know when it's empty

The inner hood that carries the mixing tube and the nozzle fits very tight and it is always a hassle to remove it, so I left it alone before breaking the mantle.

    Nice condition on that one.
And an exemplary post for the reference gallery, as usual. That's how we want them, with many pictures of details!

A heat deflector? I guess that is something you use to prevent the tank from getting too hot, is that correct?
Which Petromax lanterns used that one? I don't have it on any of mine, but perhaps that's an optional accessory? Or is it perhaps an aftermarket thingy?

    Thanks Christer !

At least the Bundeswehr Petromax 829 500cp had the heat shield, they are stamped with the Petromax Logo.

You are right, they prevent the centre screw, that fixes the cage to the tank, to get too hot. It also protects the lead seals from the vapouriser and from the rapid preheater fittings.

I don't know if it is true, but it is said that a hole in the mantle that is directed towards the screw could cause the screw to get that hot that the solder of the threaded fitting on the tank or the lead seals melt.

According to the german forum the heat shield (Prallteller) was introduced by request of the Bundeswehr.

Another function of the shield is that there can be a radiator fixed.

    Thanks for that link.
PetroWiki was a new site to me. I must browse through it better later.
I saw a note about carbide lamps... Hmm.
    Must be examined.

    Hi!

This is a old thread, I know, but how to find this heat shield?
