I recently found this lamp in a local thrift store. Just a bit dusty, otherwise in good condition. After a good cleaning, the lamp was ready to burn again. Here are the pictures.
A nice black enamel top. I have a bunch of these with nickel plated tops. Great lamp, not too big, not too small, my favourite Optimus. Original glass is very nice. Bit risky to use it though, new glass is cheap, only 10 or 15 euros.
Nice job, for a lovely lantern. You've reminded me that I must get mine fettled! I do like the original glass - I am with @MarkC I'd save that and run it with an expendable glass.
That's a nice original Optimus 300 from the mid 1930s. The black enamel top is interesting as I have only seen this one and the other in the gallery for this vintage of 300. I always assumed the black enamel top first came in when they went to the top that was not screwed together.
