I know this annoys the hell of of me! You know, when you let go of the handle and hear a great clatter as it 'thwacks' the tank! Ahhhhh! Anyways, I'm sure you all have your ways.. here's mine. Just put this together tonight..
That's a double application of heat shrink sleaving. I've also used a tap washer in the past but these can move and don't look so neat.
@paparazi Well done. This solution of heat shrink works very well. Further it's entirely and utterly reversible. There is a type of heat shrink that has an adhesive coating on the inside. I suggest that this type is not as friendly as the non-adhesive heat shrink depicted on this post. Cheers Pete
I just think its so simple, neat and effective that I might end up doing it to all my lamps (time permitting) and I wonder why we did't see more manufactures fitting some sort of sleaving to their carry handles from new. Was it just a cost thing I wonder as 'chipped paint' was/is a given on practically all painted fonts.
Used heat shrink for years and it works fine. Don't think the manufacture looked at these lanterns the way we do, they were just a product to be sold and make a profit.
Very nice, simple and effective. Also attractive. It adds character to the otherwise plain steel wire handle. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
