1956 249 Made in England

    Sorry about the dim picture, camera skills not all that. 249 parts probably shipped from the USA or Canada and assembled here in the UK but I stand to be corrected. Nickel a bit pitted but looks worse than it actually is.

    Here in the states the 249's petrol burning sibling the 242 is more common. I must say I love these compact very well made little power houses.

    Nice lantern!

    When taking shots of lit lanterns, it helps to turn your flash to on, not auto. The flash senses the light from the lantern and assumes none is needed otherwise. You can also try to turn on all available lights or put another light on it that's out of frame. Take some test shots and pick the best one. I usually take 3 to get one good one. Thank goodness for digital cameras. I'd go broke on film and processing.
