Hi fellas, i have a Handi swift lite V2, im working on, my question is dose the air mixing/ air ring come apart Ive soaked it in wd40, sat in vinigar, use some fifel bore c.f. leaner, poked a rod down air tubes, the brass air mix burner part is slightly loose and appears to have screws holding it from inside the air ring. I believe this is an AGM style burner. It is/was quite corroded its cleaning up well, ist there a trick to it, or do i just leave it as is, I think the lantern dates to 1940's Open to sugestions
The one I have doe's not have a pre heater cup and shows moderate rust of the air chamber I examined it and after a little light tapping around the perimeter and the center and use of a rod through the air inlet tubes the upper cowl was removed (it was quite tight) yours looks much more rusted than mine and I would try some rust neutralizer/disolver and take much care or you may push holes through the upper cover. (try tapping lightly around the seams with a small tack hammer to get the rust to break up) (Handi Swift Lite - 1936)
I followed your advice Graham, gently dose it, i used the heat and quench technique a few timesand hay presto it just poped of little to no fuss, i cleaned it up in my blasting box, it has come up a treat, the screws are still seized ill work on them, its a a major step forward. Pictures later
