So, the whole country has shut down here. What to do but sort out s few of my problem lanterns. Here is my Primus 1320 with the dodgy pricker shaft. Burning nicely on some bioethanol. It has a cheap Chinese Butterfly mantle, as I damaged my vintage Optimus 300cp one unfortunately. Up next, the a broad-arrow Austramax. A bit of teflon and new lead gasket sorted out the pressure drop. Needs to have the globe cleaned once it cools off. Finally my Christmas present. The Optimus 258. Needed to cut a new thread in the generator and get a new jet installed. A new cork also fixed the slow leak. Looking good in the garage. Will have to adjust the cleaning rod length tomorrow. Pricker isn't really working as it should. Tomorrow will be getting my Hasag lanterns sorted out. (If my wife doesn't catch me for DIY in the bathroom)
That’s some Christmas present Mark unfortunately Santa (or Suntie as we call him here in Aberdeenshire) forgot to call here. Perhaps he just lost his way a wee bit.
@MarkC Spot on approach to the whole affair, I'm hoping to get stuck in to my fettle queue should (when) the UK go down the same road. Nice lanterns BTW, they are super.
Our country has just taken similar measures too. This virus seems to be a force to reckon with. Hope you don't run out of kero and other essential supplies too soon.
The whole country is in quarantine. They have shut all the schools and non-essential shops. Borders are closed for foreigners, and all citizens or residents called back. A lot can't get back because neighbouring borders are shut as well. We are reliant on tourist money so there will be a lot of families with no savings at the end of this month. A lot of people love paycheck to paycheck. Other countries in Europe are doing the same thing. I am (usually) working offshore, and my colleagues are stuck on board the ship off the coast of Ghana. They aren't blocked from leaving but all of us at home are blocked from joining. Thanks for the positive comments on the lanterns. I haven't been back to them yet. Got stuck into the bathroom instead.
Over here in Holland, they made a mistake with closing all coffee shops. This disrupted the system so now, they are allowed to be open, so we can get coffee again. But first signs of the virus are that it alters your brain in such a way that you start hoarding toilet paper.
Ah yes, toilet paper.... I would just love to own stock in any of the companies turning out toilet paper!
Very sad, but true ... You made me smile though, when you said the country couldn't function without coffee !!!
