That is such a large pricker... and it's got a fast thread which makes me think it might be from a stove perhaps? It looks like the needle is operated by rotating the pricker rod to make it rise up and down... are there any lamps that work like this? Maybe ask on CCS. Someone there may know. Also, that wire looks like a pretty heavy gauge which makes me thing it's from a CF or naptha fuelled device.
I’ve asked on CCS as well. I agree that it looks more stove than lamp, but no harm in asking here, just in case. Cheers Tony
When I saw that I thought where have I seen something like that, - thought a bit then checked my post of Aladdin 12A there is a resemblance there. (Aladdin 12 A)
Nils I went to measure it tonight, but my digital callipers had a flat battery, so manually it’s >0.20mm. But, it is most likely from a stove, I think, because it is the same size as a Primus No.5 stove pricker (ie to prick a 0.32mm jet), and too large for a Tilley jet, for example. Tony @Nils Stephenson
That's what I was thinking. Just by looking at it, it looks too big for a lamp. Have you had any luck identifying the stove?
I still think it's more likely that it's for a blow lamp, as we suggested over at CCS... It was common practice to use the combined regulator and positive shut-off spindle/valve also with a pricker that automatically cleared the jet every time you shut the torch down, and 0.32 mm sounds about right for a large blow torch.
@Carlsson You are entirely correct. I was being sloppy by using “stove”. I really meant “not a light”. I’ll have to find a blow lamp forum to ask the question, but if anyone wants it, it’s free to a good home. Cheers Tony
