    I'm attempting to make some replacement jet prickers for a Petromax 900 Baby but i'm not sure what diameter the wire is.

    Can anyone tell me what diameter the pricker is?

    Thanks

    @nep036

    Just to clarify, are they the needle sizes for Petromax?

    The jet size is determined by physics (or is it chemistry?), so that should be standard no matter which brand.

    Just to clarify, the sizes Nicola gave above are the jet size. The cleaning needle should be about 0.02mm smaller.

    For dimension look here.
    Pleases croll down to the German part with explanation of Ludwig. (I have to translate the text, I know)
    You can calculate any CP with (t)his knowledge.

    @nils

    I have always understood, eg, that the jet on a Tilley X246 was <0.20.

    Thanks everyone for your input. It's all much appreciated.

    I thought the nominal diameter of the jet for 100CP was 0.12 mm.
    I have some 0.12 mm acupuncture needles and it is too large for the jet in the Ditmar 581 (100 CP). But resized to 0.1 mm it fits :lol:
    Then I found some replacement cleaning needles for 100 CP Petromax lantern online. They stated the diameter of the wire was 0.12mm.
    That's when I started to wonder if the petromax was a different size to the Ditmar. :-k
    Unfortunately the jet in my Petromax 900 is worn so no help there (that's another problem to sort out later)
    I can resize the needle easily enough but didn't want to if it wasn't necessary.

    WimVe, I'll have to read that link again when it's not so late.
    I'm unfamiliar with the symbol ^ where it was used here proportional zum Düsenquerschnitt sein, also Durchmesser^2. I get the translation as proportional to the nozzle cross-section, i.e. diameter ^ 2. Are you able to explain it to me?

    It means ... Square of diameter. = Proportional the area of jet.

    Although dependent of speed of gas, the volume of gas throughput through the gas tip is diameter^5 !!

    @WimVe

    Very handy information and a great site for sure. I especially liked Coleman mantle to CP information.

    @ROBBO55 , the petromax 900 is a 100HK lantern.
    The petromax 150cp is as it says 150 cp. The differences are small but some owners put a 150 needle in a 900 which will ruin the diameter. Off coarse there are also owners that put a 150cp jet on a 900 lantern. That will ruin the lantern too.
    The threads of the 900 and 150 are different !

    1 Hefnerkerze is approximately 0.94 Candle Power
