Has anyone in the Highland region of Scotland managed to send a package to the US using one of the Courier services? (Not Royal Mail)

If you have, how did you do it?

I’ve sent lots Colin, well a few anyway. I book through Interparcel which gives me a choice of couriers with different prices. Very easy to follow instructions and I pay via PayPal. You have to print off label, address label and 3 copies of customs forms which attach to your parcel. Never use the word pressure or paraffin of course in description. Depending on courier chosen you can drop off or wait until (or if) courier collects, easier to drop off if you can.

Of course I don’t live in the Highlands Colin so may not be of much use to you.

I send lots regularly worldwide, and use Trans Global Express. You put in destination and parcel dimensions and it gives you prices from all the couriers(I normally use DHL or UPS). You print the label and they either collect it(for an extra fee) or you drop it at the depot.

All couriers say they'll take it until I put in my location... that's when it goes wrong. It's either twice the price or there are no local drop of points ☹️

I think the couriers often have a Postcode exclusion - normally the Highlands and islands are subject to a surcharge. Did you get any further with it?

Not yet. I usually wait till I go to Glasgow or Inverness and use the drop off service but with lock down set to continue for a while yet, my package will have to wait a little while longer.

I'm sending something over to Norman on Tuesday.....i've noticed that the cheaper carriers 5+ days are dearer than the best at the moment...UPS are cheapest

The problem is my location... the moment I add my postcode there are no local drop off points! The closest for me is just north of Inverness or the outskirts of Glasgow!
