Looks like a Veritas Superb to me but a better photo would help. The fount and collar should clean up and polish nicely and honestly, they are lovely, easy to work on lanterns. Some parts are unavailable now like the original globes and prickers but there are solutions if you're prepared to go the extra mile. They were made in England by Falk although they subbed out some of their production to another company as manufacturers often do.
As @ColinG said, looks to be a Veritas Superb fount and collar, I expect, without being able to see the rest, it should have the distinctive Superb’s red enameled hood. They have been proven to be good lantern’s and reliable runners. Enjoy Cheers Pete
I'll get a better photo... sorry for the poor picture. I'm fettling away on that 1A, but at a bit of a standstill so I'm dabbling with this Vertitas for a while.
Bloody rippa! I've nearly got the Veritas 350 ready, too. Mind you, nearly is a bit rich! I still need to "make" a pricker rod.
@Damien If you have problems making one, I can send you one of my home made pricker’s for the 350A. Cheers Pete
@Damien Having a pricker isn't essential to operating the lamp. Many lamps and lanterns don't have a pricker at all. My point is, don't be deterred from fettling your lamp and lighting it until you can get a pricker. A clean lamp, with an unblocked jet and good fuel should light and burn well for many hours.
Damien If you use the vapouriser without the pricker (which is a good idea while you’re waiting) leave the pricker rod in the vapouriser. Some lamps that are fitted with an in-vapouriser pricker run a bit rough when the pricker rod is missing. Tony
I shall give it a go. Where the mixing valve screws into the fount, there was an orange seal cum gasket thing ... not an o ring, of course. Can I pop an o ring in for the time being, or will it just disintegrate? What about a little bit of teflon thread tape? Cheers Tony. Much appreciated, as always.
Aussie Pete.... how extraordinarily kind. I'd love one, although I know I need to stand on my own two feet. I'm already indebted to this forum's generosity!
