    So i bought this lamp in this condition.

    Then of course i had to restore it as i love doing this to all my Tilleys, i love the brass, just cant get enough of it.

    But i had no gallery for it. So i acquired one from Great Britain which i ordered on the 15 of March 2020
    and finally it arrived today, this was the longest time that i have ever waited for a part to be shipped to me hear in Australia, just over one month.

    I thought something was wrong. See what happens to me when i get excited, can you tell what i did? yes you guessed it, i put the gallery on upside down what a fool.

    This is how it should go on, looks better to me now.

    Just one more part to go, and that has to dry and be cooked in the oven.

    Nice polishing job as usual. It’s a shame in a way that you then light it up and have to polish it again. Why do you have to put the bugscreen in the oven?

    Brian,

    I have been thinking about vapourisers / generators and some I have seen over the years. can you tell me what coating was on your vapouriser? It looks painted black or has grime, carbon on it.

    Before you cleaned this lamp up, the lamp looks like it has been damned by a witch or something.

    You did a great job. I know the great feeling you have when you polish the brass and bring something back to life. Sadly my old body is giving out quicker than the lamps.

    Yes just on the brass, I learnt my lesson on the nickel plate, not to use buffing mops as they will fade or come off, that's why I have some X246 brass founts

    Hi Jean, high temp paint needs to cure in an oven for some reason.

    @Jean J

    The type of paint used on the upper bug screen is resistant to higher temperatures than normal paint. It stays relatively soft until the first heating. I suspect the paint used here requires 200deg C to cure. It is preferable to cure the paint in an oven where temperature can be easily controlled.

    I don't think Brian intends to paint the fount.

    @Buggerlugs

    Nice work on the lamp, Brian. :thumbup:

    For now I'm only going to bake the upper bug catcher, but I am going to bake a different fount this one in gold.

    Thank you it's great to have people interested in Tilleys, it's a shame I didn't know about this site earlier, as I would have taken a lot more photos

    The tank in the last pic is for either an R1 or a TL13/14.

    I've done that. :roll:

    Yes I have made it into a TL13 I just don't have a photo with the handle on , as it's been pulled apart at the moment.
