I question this method. From experience I always start spraying when I am off the subject as this eliminates droplets that form when the paint starts to flow. I start spraying away from subject and gently sweep across and only stop spraying when past the object. Works for me.
Yes, I was taught the same as Blueflame mention. Always activate the spray gun (or rattle can, as in this case) just before your sweeping movement is reaching the object, and let it go just after you swept over it, and then the same in the back movement.
Thanks Colin, great video, I must admit I use that sort of method myself & it does work if you don’t try to rush. My bench is against a wall. So I use a turntable as I can’t walk round. Wish I had your oven though. Thanks Malcolm
Well yes, that's exactly what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear. If you see in the video (which wasn't brilliant!) that's what I was doing. The main point I was trying to get over was not to press the nozzle continuously. From experience a lot of newcomers to paint spraying keep spraying without a pause which almost inevitably results in runs.
