We decided to bring this Tilley back from the grave, Bail first. Time to pull a part this sad old looking Tilley. Got the fount ready for the under coat and 2 coats of gold paint, a bake in the oven. Put it back together and change the hood el presto, Wow we love it hope you do too, and sorry fellas no money shot.
Wow, @Buggerlugs That turned out beautifully. Well done. I respect your statement of “no money shot” and with all that work, I understand why. Personally, I have a lantern or two that I have not fired up, for the same reason. However normally, I use the money shot as a definitive proof of an operational fettle. I usually celebrate the money shot with a quiet beer whilst watching the newly restored lantern strut it’s stuff. Enjoy. Cheers Pete
Thanks mate I'm so happy with it, it's a beauty that's for sure, I'm lucky my son is a great spray painter. He does such an amazingly good work
Very nice. You will have collectors scratching their heads trying to work this one out in another 50 years. I'd like to see the same colour scheme but the cage painted black.

Don't forget that there's a Practice Forum Henry.
Love it mate, you've done a brilliant job, however, from a purely mercenary view point, the money is in putting the new top on the Pork Pie base and painting that base. Now I've said that, ignore me because its beautiful, but if you ever came to sell it! .... Martin
I really like the one with the black top and silver frame. The contrasts go well together. What type of gold paint have you used?
Thanks nils Over here in Aus you can get you hands on some dupli color silver from supercheap witch can handle up to 260c that's what i use for the bail and for the the gold i used VHT paint its an engine enamel, i also used a ceramic primer in gray
