What's the best advice for testing burners. Can it be done with no mantle? Obviously if theres a few burners to test putting a new mantle on each one could be costly. Any advice?
@swiss-paul Yes, do it but remove the glass first and once you have confirmed you have a nice Bunsen flame turn it off and let it cool a bit before testing the next one. I always test all burners this way prior to fitting a mantle. Just preheat and light in the usual way. Regards Jeremy
@swiss-paul I test my burners without the mantle, also. With my Tilleys, I have a “test Tilley X246” (called David), that has a very good vapouriser in it, so that one variable (the jet) at least is eliminated. [I also have a very good Tilley burner and mantle that I use to test vapourisers]. Lighting without a mantle isn’t infallible, but it allows you to detect a very bad burner. Tony
