Hi john g very nice little collection of storm lanterns i see you have two 246's and a246B and two vapalux's and all working superbly
Thanks Christer, I will remember that next time, Just a first time photo poster. also thanks to everybody who has commented, it is much appreciated.
My pleasure John! That's why I'm here. Mind you! When well in the file manager, it might seem a tad bit different depending on which forum you actually are in. In this particular case (Pressure Lamp Discussion Forum), you only have the "Fullsize-option", just as in many other of our different foras. But in the reference sections you'll also have the "thumbnail-option" to choose if you want. If you have many pictures to show, the thumbnails are preferred. But if only two, three or perhaps even four pictures in some cases... well then, perhaps the "Fullsize" is the better option. It's a matter of judgement.
OK, so here's the best I could do at a pinch, tonight - just the ones that came to hand:- Across the back: Tilley AL620, X246B 500, Coleman 242C, 201 Middle: Tilley WL26, LT1 Front: Coleman 226 The little Coleman's a bit poorly - I've a new generator for it somewhere...
Thought I would add a pic. Here are some of mine. Sorry the cage on the AL620 is not seated properly for this picture, but by the time I realised it, the lamps were away and I was not going to get them all flashed-up again. There are a Tilley Guardsman, Tilley PL53, Tilley AL620, Tilley 246XA and XB and a Bialaddin 315. Enjoy - Steve.
Ok then. Last time I had any number lit was Ipswich in October last year. My humble show was 25 or so but I think in total there would be around 1000 lit that night. A lot of wicky crap lamps of course but some are just beautiful and the overal effect is magical. ::Neil::
How warm did it get in there? I'm thinking you saved them some trouble on their heating bill that evening!
Heating? What heating. Cold old place that. It is the former trolly bus garage for Ipswich and there is no heating. My stand was the warmest place in the building. I reckon I was putting out around 35KWh of heat and even with lamps a fair bit is radiated so whilst most folks still had coats on I did not have to. Ipswich is a great evening to see. A great deal of work by a fair number of collectors goes into a four hour display. For the 200 mile round trip I leave home at about 12 midday and get home around 1.00 am and burn off a few gallons of fuel but the effect in this old building in the dark is magical. In fact the pressure lamps are not the most impressive unless you know what you are looking at. The wicky crap tends to be more colourful and the lamps are prettier but they don't talk to you like pressure stuff does so they ain't got soul. ::Neil::
